In Idyllwild, wildlife viewing can be enjoyed any time of the year. Winter months pose more of a difficulty, but in the summer, Idyllwild is a wildlife playground.

Start off your day early with a better chance of seeing Idylwild gray foxes, coyotes and bobcats. Lizards and snakes are typically seen on any of Idyllwild's hiking trails. Later in the day, when the heat has cooled off, Idyllwild comes alive with sounds of strolling coyotes and the occasional bobcat passing through.

Hawks and Stellar Jays can be seen at any time during the day. Idyllwild Stellar Jays are especially entertaining with their raucous chatter and playful manner. Watch ground Squirrels collecting acorns and see if you can see where they hide their stash.
